About Local Standard
A small, independent publisher of standards for local trades, part of a network of local directories.

What we do
Local Standard publishes short, versioned requirements for local trades and lists the businesses that meet them. Verification sites ask whether a business's details are accurate. We ask a narrower question that matters when you're about to sign: does this business meet a published list of requirements?
Principles
- Public rules. Every requirement and change is published, with an edition.
- Checkable, not opinion. Requirements are met or not met from records and tests. We don't rate taste or value.
- Dated. Every check carries the date it was run.
- Payment never decides. Fees fund assessments; passing requires meeting every requirement.
- Corrections in the open. Changes to a published status are noted with the date.
Independence
Requirements
Drafted and published before they are applied. A new edition is announced before it takes effect.
Results
Decided from the checks alone. Nobody selling profiles or quote requests can change a result.
Lists
A to Z, with paid enhanced profiles labelled on every listing.
